Wine Tutor (Fixed Term Contract) – Stunning Wine Estate – Stellenbosch

Our client, a stunning wine estate in Stellenbosch, is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Tutor for a fixed term contract to deliver exceptional wine-tasting experiences and cellar tours to guests. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of wines, a strong customer service orientation, and the ability to engage with distinguished clientele to ensure memorable visits.

Description:

As a Wine Tutor, you will be responsible for conducting tutored wine tastings, leading cellar tours, and providing outstanding service that enhances guest satisfaction. This role requires a patient, personable, and enthusiastic individual with a passion for wine and the hospitality industry. You will play a crucial role in promoting wine sales, managing stock, and ensuring compliance with all relevant liquor regulations.

  • Set up and prepare the tasting area for guests.
  • Conduct engaging and informative tutored wine tastings.
  • Lead guests on cellar tours, sharing knowledge of the wine production process.
  • Ensure the presentation, quality, and temperature of all wines and beverages are correct.
  • Process wine orders through Capreo, Cape Ardor, and Aspiring Logistics.
  • Manage stock levels, including collection, re-stocking, and inventory control.
  • Minimize loss through breakage, waste, theft, and incorrect orders; document any losses.
  • Maintain strict tasting and portion control standards.
  • Conduct daily stock-takes of wine and beverages and complete stock movement sheets.
  • Promote and process wine sales, enhancing guest experience and maximizing revenue.
  • Adhere to the provisions and regulations of the Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003) and other relevant regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
  • Own reliable transport.
  • Preferably 1-2 years of experience as a Wine Tutor or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of wines and the ability to communicate this effectively to guests.
  • A passion for wine and the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with distinguished clientele.
  • Must be well-presented and have a professional demeanour.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • An enthusiastic personality and a positive attitude.
