Sous Chef Farm Stall Restaurant – N7 Philadelphia, Cape Town

We are currently seeking a talented and creative individual to join our client’s team as a Sous Chef that would like to make their mark in an exciting new farm stall / retail and restaurant venture located on the N7 approximately 38km from CBD, 24km from Table View / Milnerton in Cape Town, South Africa.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a pre-opening team and contribute to the culinary excellence of our client’s restaurant

As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. Your culinary expertise, leadership skills, and attention to detail will play a crucial role in establishing the restaurant as a premier dining destination in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

Planning and executing menus, ensuring exceptional quality and presentation
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring a productive and motivated team
Oversee food preparation and production, maintaining high standards of taste, appearance, and portion control
Collaborate with seniors to develop and implement innovative culinary concepts and offerings
Monitor and control food costs and inventory, minimizing waste and maximizing profitability
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations, including recycling, pest control & general waste management, care of operating equipment – cleaning, repair, storage
Assist in menu development, taking into consideration guest preferences and dietary requirements
Ensure efficient communication and coordination with other departments

Requirements:

Minimum qualification of Grade 12 or equivalent
Relevant culinary certifications or diploma is advantageous
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within an upmarket/ high end deli / restaurant environment
Own transport is essential
Strong culinary skills and creativity, with a passion for delivering exceptional cuisine
Proven leadership and managerial abilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Drive and passion for the industry, with the ability to keep up with the high pace, and a sincere commitment to exceed expectations.

Excellent time management skills
Ability to grow a retail base and grow a business
