Our client, a lively pub-style busy restaurant nestled in Constantia, is on the hunt for a skilled and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their dynamic kitchen team. Description:

As the Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and the delivery of high-quality dishes that keep our guests coming back for more. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Supervising and coordinating the work of kitchen staff to maintain efficiency and quality standards during service.
• Contributing to menu development and recipe creation, with a focus on traditional pub fare and comfort food classics.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
• Managing inventory and assisting with ordering supplies to meet demand while minimizing waste.
• Supporting the training and development of junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a busy restaurant or pub environment.
• Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating delicious, hearty pub food.
• Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, with the confidence to lead a team during service.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
• Availability to start as soon as possible.
