Sales and Marketing Executive – Luxury Travel Brand – Pietermaritzburg

Job Description: Position: Sales and Marketing Executive
Location: Luxury 5-Star Lodge, Zambia and Kariba, Zimbabwe
Based: Pietermaritzburg
Reports to: Operations Director

Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sales and Marketing Executive to join our clients prestigious 5-star lodge and luxury houseboat team. The ideal candidate will drive sales and marketing initiatives, attract high-end clientele, and enhance our clients brand presence. This role requires a proactive individual with a passion for luxury travel and a strong network within the tourism industry, particularly in Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales and Business Development:

  • Identify and target potential corporate clients to generate new business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets.
  • Foster relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business and loyalty.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.

2. Marketing and Brand Promotion:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote the lodge’s unique offerings and services.
  • Create and manage content for digital marketing channels, including social media, website, and email marketing, in conjunction with an external digital marketing agency.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to produce high-quality promotional materials.

3. Networking and Relationship Building:

  • Attend trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences to represent the lodge and build professional relationships.
  • Actively engage with travel agents, tour operators, and other key stakeholders in the luxury travel sector.
  • Organize and host familiarization trips for travel agents and corporate clients to showcase the lodge.

4. Market Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and the competitive landscape.
  • Analyze sales and marketing data to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the management team to inform strategic decisions.

5. Customer Service:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained throughout the sales process.
  • Address client inquiries and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to continuously improve services and guest experiences.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and marketing.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong network of contacts within the luxury travel and tourism industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel frequently for trade shows, events, and client meetings.


  • Competitive salary (R35,000 gross p/m) and performance-based incentives/commissions. Expected annual earnings in excess of R1 million.
