Pastry Chef – Research and Development – Cape Town CBD

We are a leading production kitchen based in the vibrant Cape Town CBD, specializing in creating high-quality pastry products for a diverse clientele. Committed to innovation and excellence, we are seeking a talented Pastry Chef to join our Research and Development team.

As a Pastry Chef specializing in Research and Development, you will play a key role in creating and refining our pastry offerings. Your primary responsibility will be to innovate and develop new recipes, techniques, and products that meet the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation. You will collaborate closely with the culinary team to conceptualize and execute innovative pastry concepts that cater to evolving consumer preferences and market trends


1. Lead the development and testing of new pastry recipes, ensuring they align with company standards and customer expectations.
2. Conduct research on emerging pastry trends, ingredients, and techniques to inspire new product development.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chefs, food scientists, and marketing, to bring new pastry products to market.
4. Continuously refine and improve existing pastry recipes and processes to enhance product quality and consistency.
5. Maintain accurate records of recipe formulations, production processes, and ingredient specifications.
6. Oversee product trials and tastings, soliciting feedback from stakeholders to iterate and optimize recipes.
7. Stay current with industry best practices, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards


– Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a production kitchen or bakery setting.

– Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.

– Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.

– Creative flair and passion for innovation in pastry arts.

– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

– Attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency
