Pastry Chef – 5* Luxury Eco Lodge – Limpopo

Join our client’s team and contribute to creating magical culinary experiences in a breathtaking setting. Our client is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to produce high-end baked goods, patisseries, breads, and fine dining desserts in the Soutpansberg, Limpopo, South Africa.

Description:

Do you dream of creating exquisite pastries in a breathtaking setting? Our client is searching for a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join their team. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for producing high-quality baked goods, patisseries, breads, and composed desserts. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, you will ensure the quality of all pastry products for breakfast, lunch, fine dining dinners, picnics, and outdoor dining experiences. You will also assist in leading successful services and oversee the early shift and breakfast service quality.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on dessert menu design and development.
  • Produce baked breads and products for all dining experiences.
  • Oversee the quality of pastry products and appliances.
  • Assist the Sous Chef in kitchen team management, including prep lists, task completion, kitchen cleanliness, and section inspections.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in sourcing quality baking raw products from suppliers.
  • Monitor stock for all pastry and baked products.

Requirements:

  • Matric with minimum English and Math literacy.
  • Diploma in food preparation and culinary arts, with a focus on patisserie.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high-end dining kitchen or 5-star lodge (pastry section).
  • Bread baking experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creativity in design.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to produce only high-quality products.
  • Physical ability to perform the job, including long hours of standing, moving, and carrying objects.
  • Willingness to learn and train others constructively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
