Operations Manager – Luxury Lodge – Tanzania

Join a leading luxury lodge in Tanzania as an Operations Manager. We seek an energetic and proactive individual with a passion for hospitality and guest service excellence. This live-in position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the lodge’s success and create memorable experiences for our client’s guests.


We are recruiting an Operations Manager to oversee and enhance the operations of our clients prestigious lodge in Tanzania. The successful candidate will support the General Management in ensuring the lodge meets the highest standards of service and hospitality.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Support General Management: Assist in the overall responsibility for the effective management and operation of the lodge, aiming to elevate service standards.
  • Service Standards: Ensure the lodge’s service standards are continuously met and visible in daily operations.
  • Day-to-Day Management: Assist the Hospitality Manager with daily management, including overseeing various camps and back-of-house departments.
  • Guest Hosting: Collaborate with the Management team to conduct evening hosting and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Training and Development: Implement and oversee service and hospitality training plans, including butler training, to maintain high standards.
  • Guest Delight Activities: Develop and manage guest activities, including bush banqueting.
  • Operational Stock Orders: Assist in planning and managing operational stock orders.
  • Communication: Ensure effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams.
  • Room Checks: Oversee room checks and collaborate with housekeeping to maintain and exceed standards.
  • F&B Standards: Maintain food and beverage standards, including wine knowledge and training.
  • Daily Planning: Conduct daily meetings with Heads of Department to discuss plans, special requests, and events.
  • Hosting and Media: Host agents, media, group bookings, and events.
  • Guest Experience: Continuously evolve the guest experience to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Training Support: Provide training support at other lodge properties as required.



  • Knowledge and Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of management experience in a 5-star operation
  • Experience in hospitality and service training
  • A hospitality degree is beneficial


  • Energetic and proactive with a strong focus on providing a world-class guest experience
  • Motivated and willing to go the extra mile for guest service
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and self-motivation to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to share information, teach, and inspire others
  • Good computer skills and social media knowledge
  • IT experience beneficial
  • Food and beverage experience, including wine knowledge and training, is preferred

Previous Work Experience:

  • Experience in the service industry, particularly in guest and staff interactions
  • Previous experience in a five-star operation
  • People management experience is beneficial
