Lodge Manager – Luxury Lodge – Botswana
Location: Okavango Delta

Description:
As the Lodge Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management and operation of our clients Lodge. You will build relationships with staff, guests, governmental departments, the community, and industry stakeholders. Your role includes overseeing business efficiencies, HR structures, product development, sustainability initiatives, and financial management.
Key responsibilities involve regular assessments of operational equipment, vehicles, generators, and buildings. You will lead efforts to reduce the lodge’s carbon footprint and improve sustainability. Financial oversight, including budget forecasting and CAPEX planning, is crucial. Additionally, you will manage training and development programs to ensure staff meets service standards and stay current with industry trends.
Your leadership will foster a superior workforce, enhance guest experiences, and ensure the lodge’s success. You will work closely with all departments, maintain high service standards, and engage in corporate social responsibility projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with staff, guests, government departments, the community, and industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Foundations on community development initiatives.
- Ensure business efficiencies, cost control, and product quality.
- Maintain and enhance HR structures and adherence.
- Develop and enhance guest experiences, including lodge, food, and game activities.
- Regularly assess operational equipment and facilities.
- Implement and improve sustainability practices, reducing the carbon footprint.
- Oversee lodge finances, including budget forecasting and CAPEX planning.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff.
- Introduce new concepts and creative service delivery ideas.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Manage staffing levels and HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, and career development.
- Foster teamwork and a cohesive work environment.
- Lead performance management and development processes.
- Maintain transparent communication and manage overall lodge operations.
Requirements:
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and financial management.
- Initiative and lateral thinking.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and diligence.

- Knowledge of hospitality, business, supervision, and management principles.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of lodge operations and guest experiences.
- Awareness of environmental sustainability and community development.
- Familiarity with financial management and budgeting.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR practices.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years as a Lodge Manager or General Manager in a 5-star operation.
- Experience in the service industry, especially in dealing with guests and staff.
- Qualification in Hospitality Management.

Other Information:
- This is a permanent live-in position based in the Okavango.
