Manager and Guide – 5* Lodge – Mpumalanga

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager and Guide to join our client’s team. As the Manager and Guide, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the lodge while also providing exceptional guiding services to our discerning guests. This is a single live-in position offering a unique opportunity to live and work in one of Africa’s most stunning wilderness areas.

Description:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the lodge, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and administration.
  • Provide exceptional guest experiences by delivering high-quality guiding services during game drives, bush walks, and other activities.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests at all times during activities and while on the lodge premises.
  • Manage lodge staff, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation, to maintain high standards of service and professionalism.
  • Maintain lodge facilities and equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition.
  • Manage lodge inventory, supplies, and budgets effectively.
  • Uphold conservation principles and responsible tourism practices throughout all lodge operations.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the lodge, fostering positive relationships with guests, staff, and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar managerial role within the hospitality industry, preferably within a luxury lodge environment.
  • Professional guiding qualifications (FGASA Level 1 or higher, First Aid certification, and relevant firearm handling proficiency).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • A deep appreciation for wildlife, conservation, and the African bush.
  • Must be willing to live on-site at the lodge.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
