Synopsis:

As the Junior Duty Manager at a luxury 4-star hotel in Franschhoek, you will oversee accommodation services, ensuring guest rooms and public areas meet high standards. Job Description:

The Junior Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing housekeeping to ensure guest rooms and public areas are clean and well-maintained. You will work closely with the front office to manage room occupancy, VIP guests, and special requests. Duties include room inspections, handling maintenance issues, managing housekeeping schedules, and assisting with guest inquiries and reservations. Strong communication and leadership skills are vital to succeed in this role.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily communication and feedback with Assistant Manager and Accommodation Manager regarding room occupancy, VIP guests, and special needs.
  • Direct supervision of housekeeping and front office teams, ensuring compliance with hotel policies, personal hygiene, and uniform standards.
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and recreational facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness and maintenance are up to standard.
  • Oversee the housekeeping team in room preparation, including issuing keys, room lists, and cleaning schedules at the start of each shift.
  • Ensure timely maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Handle guest requests and concerns, particularly during breakfast, to enhance comfort and satisfaction.
  • Maintain stock levels for amenities, linen, and supplies to ensure consistency in services.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and meetings for housekeeping staff.
  • Approve housekeeping duty rosters, taking into account room occupancy and guest needs.
  • Support other departments as required and assist with hotel-wide guest service initiatives.

Prerequisites:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel policies, guest services, housekeeping standards, and hygiene regulations.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in monitoring cleanliness, maintenance, and guest satisfaction.
  • Positive personality, reliable, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Experience in luxury or boutique hotels is highly beneficial.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or hospitality management.
  • Ability to lead and train staff according to luxury standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle guest inquiries and complaints efficiently.
  • Familiarity with hotel reservation systems is an advantage.
