Housekeeper – Boutique Luxury Spa – Southern Suburbs, Cape Town

Our client, a leading hotel and Spa brand is looking for a Housekeeper to ensure a neat, hygienically clean and tidy appearance of the Spa/Store at all times including the kitchen, bathrooms, therapist rooms, store rooms, passages and other areas within the Spa/Store.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Matric or equivalent
Cleaning of a Spa/Store or similar experience is essential
Ability to work on own or in a team and to see where cleaning is required – and not having to be told everyday what to do
Friendly and energetic personality
Willing to learn and take on additional responsibility
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:

Floors: Ensure that all floors are spotless, if necessary wipe them regularly during the day to ensure cleanliness. Sweep floors before mopping.
Bathrooms: Clean mirrors, lockers, toilets and basins at least twice a day. Ensure that there is sufficient toilet paper, hand wash liquid and hand cream available. Ensure that there are fresh hand towels put out each day.
Lockers: Ensure the lockers are cleaned out and re packed according to standard and the keys are returned to Front Desk. Check that all the contents are in the locker (including gown & slippers).
Doors: Ensure that all doors do not have finger marks on them. Clean all doors every day.
Therapy Rooms: Ensure that floors and working areas are spotless, if need be, clean out regularly during the day.
Sauna, Steam Room, Showers & Rasul: The areas must be cleaned at the end of every day. Wiped down, scrubbed and sterilized every evening.
Aroma Burners: Prepare the day before – place candles in the burners (in a safe place to avoid fire hazard). In the morning, light the candles and ensure there is an atmosphere fragrance in water when lighting the candle. Check the aroma burners throughout the day to ensure they are burning.
Reception: Ensure dustbin is emptied out every day, dust and clean around the reception desk. Ensure computer area and telephone is cleaned every day;. Dust, polish furniture to remove marks on all pieces of furniture.
Kitchen: Ensure that the kitchen is tidy at all times. Wash dishes. Clear out dustbin on a daily basis. Ensure that the fridge is clean, (at least once a week wash the fridge).
Washing machine/tumble dryer: Ensure that the fluff and dirt is removed from the door panel on a daily basis. After use, ensure that the machines are switched off. Never leave the machines on overnight.
Linen: Assist with the counting and checking of towels on a daily basis. Change Linen/towels in Therapy rooms daily.
Equipment: Scrub and disinfect equipment on a daily basis.
Furniture: Dust, polish and remove marks off furniture on a daily basis.
Storage areas: Ensure that all stock items are neatly packed away, remove unnecessary boxes.
Display Cabinets: Ensure the glass cabinets are clean every day. Ensure that the retail shelves are kept clean and tidy. Items must be packed LIFO (Last in, first out) to avoid expired stock remaining on the shelves.
Windows: Wash windows and glass doors at least once a week (Inside and outside). Wipe down glass doors on a daily basis.
Plants/Garden: ensure that the plants are watered daily or every second day. Dead plants must be reported to the manager and then removed.
Cleaning materials: Monitor the use of detergents and other cleaning aids. Using cleaning materials sparingly.
Breakages: Report broken or faulty equipment to management immediately.
Refreshments: Daily, ensure fresh tea and refreshments are available for guests. Before leaving in the evening (if on late shift) the ice tea leaves must be left to steep overnight so that the tea is a good strength for the next day. Ensure that is also fresh iced lemon water throughout the day for guest use.
Other: Assist the Front Desk by collecting visitors from the Reception/Ground Floor.
