A renowned exclusive safari lodge in the Hoedspruit area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Ranger to lead its guiding team and deliver exceptional wildlife experiences to guests. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the African bush, a passion for conservation, and the ability to provide outstanding guest service.

Our client, a leading luxury safari lodge, is looking for a Head Ranger to join its team and lead the guiding department. As the Head Ranger, you will be responsible for providing guests with unforgettable safari experiences, ensuring safety, and managing a team of professional guides.

This live-in position offers the unique opportunity to work in one of South Africa’s most beautiful natural settings, sharing your love and knowledge of the African bush with international guests. You will oversee game drives, bush walks, and other wildlife activities, ensuring they are conducted to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the guiding team to provide exceptional safari experiences.
• Conduct game drives and bush walks, sharing expert knowledge of wildlife, flora, and fauna.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of guests during all wildlife activities.
• Mentor and train junior rangers and trackers to develop their guiding skills.
• Work closely with lodge management to create unique guest experiences that highlight the natural beauty of the area.
• Maintain and manage safari vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in excellent condition.

Requirements:

• FGASA Level 2 (minimum) and valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• At least 5 years of experience as a field guide or ranger in a luxury safari lodge.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of wildlife, conservation, and the African bush ecosystem.
• Exceptional communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to work in a remote, live-in environment and adapt to a flexible schedule.
