Head Chef – Premier Lodge – Mkuze, KZN
We are seeking a passionate and driven Head Chef to oversee all culinary operations at a premier lodge in Mkuze, KZN. This role is ideal for an individual with a commitment to exceptional food standards, guest satisfaction, and sustainability. Description:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing all food operations, including the Main Kitchen, Display Kitchen, and Staff Canteen. You will ensure the highest health and hygiene standards, adhere to food styling guides, and oversee the training and development of kitchen staff. Your role will involve managing food quality and quantity, handling special dietary needs, and maintaining stock control. You will also be a key player in fostering a positive and collaborative team environment, engaging with guests, and contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
Requirements:
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively interact with guests and team members.
- Organizational Ability: Strong skills in managing kitchen operations and staff.
- Creativity & Innovation: Ability to create exceptional dishes and contribute to innovative food experiences.
- Pressure Handling: Demonstrates professionalism under high-pressure situations.
- HACCP Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- PANstrat Knowledge (Advantageous): Familiarity with food management systems.
- World-Class Standards: Commitment to high hospitality and service standards.
- Integrity & Proactiveness: Honest, driven, and ambitious with a proactive approach.
- Mentorship: Ability to train and develop kitchen staff.
- Hospitality & Service: Deep understanding of hospitality standards and guest experience.
- Environmental Awareness: Knowledge of sustainability practices and community impact.
- Driver’s License: Valid unendorsed South African driver’s license.
- Industry Experience: At least 3+ years in a similar role within the service industry.
- All-Rounder Expertise: Proficiency in both pastry and hot sections.
- Passion for Food & Management: Strong enthusiasm for culinary arts and kitchen management.
