Our client, a prestigious safari lodge located within the breathtaking landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), is seeking an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead their culinary team. Description:

  • Lead the culinary team in the planning, preparation, and execution of high-quality and innovative menus that showcase local and seasonal ingredients
  • Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including food production, inventory management, and kitchen hygiene
  • Ensure consistent adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality and service
  • Collaborate with lodge management to develop new culinary experiences and enhance guest satisfaction
  • Oversee menu costing, budgeting, and control food costs to achieve financial targets
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and incorporate new techniques and recipes into menu offerings

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a high-end restaurant or luxury hospitality establishment
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for creating exceptional dishes that delight guests
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
  • Creative flair and ability to develop innovative menus that reflect the lodge’s commitment to sustainability and local sourcing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
  • Valid food hygiene certificate and knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Eligible to work in South Africa
