Head Chef – Luxury Lodge – Hoedspruit

Description:
As the Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for implementing and maintaining a distinctive, high-quality Pan-African cuisine using seasonal, local ingredients. Collaborating with the Executive Chef, you’ll plan menus, conduct daily meetings to ensure kitchen standards, and practice effective cost control to minimise wastage. Additionally, you’ll handle administrative tasks, manage the kitchen team, and maintain guest confidentiality while striving to exceed their expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain high-quality Pan-African cuisine.
- Plan menus effectively and minimise wastage.
- Conduct daily meetings to maintain kitchen standards.
- Ensure availability of high-quality ingredients and varied menu options.
- Collaborate with management for food presentation and stock ordering.
- Practice effective cost control and minimise waste.
- Accurately complete food stock counts and analyse discrepancies.
- Monitor food costs and ensure compliance with administrative systems.
- Train and coach the kitchen team to maintain cuisine style.
- Manage the team in line with company culture and values.
- Communicate guest feedback and strive to accommodate special requests.
- Maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:
- Available as soon as possible, preference for working interviews.
- Must have own transport.
- Non-smokers preferred.
- No pets allowed.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train teams.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Passion for culinary excellence and guest satisfaction.
