Join our client, a leading 4-star hotel group in Durban, Kwazulu Natal, as a Group Health and Safety Officer. We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee health and safety protocols across our properties, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe environment for guests and staff.

Description:

As the Group Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures across all properties within our hotel group. Your duties will include:

• Conducting regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.
• Collaborating with department heads to address health and safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
• Developing and delivering training programs on health and safety protocols for staff members.
• Ensuring compliance with local health and safety regulations and industry standards.
• Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, and preparing detailed reports.
• Maintaining records of health and safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents.
• Keeping abreast of changes in health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Serving as the primary point of contact for health and safety inquiries and concerns.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
• Proven experience working in health and safety management, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and standards applicable to hotels and hospitality establishments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with staff at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is desirable.
• Ability to travel between hotel properties within the Kwazulu Natal region as needed.
