Front of House Manager- Fine Dining Restaurant- Johannesburg

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Front of House (FOH) Manager to oversee all aspects of guest service and operational efficiency at their prestigious restaurant in Johannesburg, Gauteng. This role requires a proactive leader who can uphold high service standards, manage staff effectively, and ensure exceptional customer experiences.

Description:

The FOH Manager will oversee the smooth operation of all guest service activities at our esteemed restaurant. This pivotal role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. The FOH Manager will be responsible for managing FOH staff, ensuring efficient resource use, maintaining cleanliness, and upholding service excellence.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness to achieve profit margins.
  • Report and address maintenance issues related to FOH equipment, décor, and fixtures.
  • Ensure accurate billing for all restaurant services rendered.
  • Maintain stock levels and place orders as per company policy.
  • Supervise cleanliness and organization of all FOH areas.
  • Coordinate with the bar manager to ensure well-maintained beverage displays.
  • Prepare staff rosters and allocate zones for effective coverage.
  • Oversee bookings and reservations, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct precise cash-up procedures for restaurant staff.
  • Train and onboard new FOH staff in procedures and standards.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform staff and maintain high standards.
  • Set exemplary standards for punctuality, attendance, attitude, and hygiene.
  • Enforce security protocols during shifts.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout FOH areas.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences through high service standards.
  • Implement grievance and disciplinary procedures as necessary.
  • Foster a harmonious work environment through conflict resolution.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a FOH Manager in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage over 50+ staff effectively.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a hands-on management style.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Located in Gauteng with immediate availability preferred.
