COO/Consulting General Manager – Ultra Luxury Lodge – Limpopo

An exclusive opportunity awaits a dynamic and experienced leader to join our client’s team as the COO/Consulting General Manager for a preopening ultra luxury lodge in the picturesque Limpopo area. This is a 6-month contract role starting at the end of July 2024, designed to set the foundation for excellence and ensure a seamless opening of this world-class establishment.

Our client is seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Consulting General Manager to lead and manage the preopening phase of their ultra luxury lodge. Nestled in the heart of Limpopo, this lodge promises an unparalleled experience of opulence and natural beauty. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic vision, operational expertise, and a passion for luxury hospitality.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of the lodge’s preopening activities, including team recruitment, training, and development, as well as the implementation of operational standards and procedures. Your leadership will be instrumental in crafting an unforgettable guest experience that aligns with the brand’s high standards of luxury and exclusivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preopening phase of the lodge, ensuring all timelines and objectives are met.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and excellence.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Collaborate with the design and construction teams to ensure the lodge meets luxury standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and local authorities.
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures to uphold the lodge’s prestigious reputation.
  • Drive strategic initiatives to optimize guest satisfaction and operational profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer (COO), General Manager, or similar executive role in a luxury hospitality setting.
  • Demonstrated success in preopening and managing high-end lodges, resorts, or hotels.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry standards and best practices.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for delivering extraordinary guest experiences.
  • Relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
