Chef Trainer – Luxury Island Resort – Mozambique

Location: Benguerra Island. Join an exceptional team dedicated to creating memorable guest experiences and promoting sustainability. Our client is seeking a passionate and skilled Chef Trainer to lead the kitchen team, maintain high culinary standards, and contribute to the success of the property on Benguerra Island.

Description:

As a Chef Trainer, you will be responsible for setting and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, training chefs, and implementing kitchen protocols. You will ensure the availability of correct chemicals and cleaning materials, and stay updated with the latest food trends. Your role includes overseeing creative beach banqueting, proactive kitchen maintenance, effective communication with staff, and meticulous stock control.

You will manage all food orders, storerooms, fridges, and freezers, ensuring minimal wastage and proper handling of leftovers. Your duties extend to maintaining spotless food transportation vehicles, preparing meals and platters at the last minute for maximum freshness, and organizing the canteen.

Your interaction with guests, food experts, and other chefs will be key to fostering a positive environment. You will promote teamwork, discipline, and fair treatment, and be a role model for your team. Flexibility, approachability, and fun are essential aspects of this role. You will also handle special dietary needs, emergency food supplies, and ensure the accurate presentation of dishes to managers and butlers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain kitchen hygiene and standards.

  • Organize and maintain the canteen.
  • Engage with guests, food experts, and other chefs.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and fair treatment.
  • Handle special dietary needs and emergency food supplies.
  • Ensure accurate presentation and explanation of dishes.

  • At least 3+ years in the service industry, dealing with guests and staff.

Other Information:

  • This is a permanent live-in position based on Benguerra Island.
